Ash and T-rexes.

ORIGINS: One of the words was ASHTRAY. Since ashes are gray/grey, we thought that the same could be done with ray, and the light wouldn’t mind. In some other language REY means king, and so too does REX. That is how an ashtray became ashes and a tyrannosaurus rex.

Sure, I was a king once. But that was a long time ago. My kingdom burned down. And the wind blew the ashes far, far away. I have no use for this old crown anymore. You can keep it, if you want.

I had a shiny crown once. I thought that no one could touch me, that I was the sun and no one was brighter than me. Then the volcano erupted. There were ashes everywhere. They covered the sun, and stuck to my skin. I still haven’t been able to wash them off. Those ashes. That despair. Of knowing that outshining is not necessary. Because darkening is more than enough.

I am not afraid of this meteor. It’s just a ball. And I know how to play that game. I may have stumbled and fallen down, but I will rise again. If cooperation is what is needed to rebuild the world, and dust off these ashes, that is what I will do. I will get the ball rolling. Even if I have to help every other dinosaur left in this planet to get back on their feet myself.

Look on the bright side. At least everybody will remember that I was a king once. My bones will be proudly displayed, and everybody will know my name. That’s more than most people can say. They will turn to dust, the wind will blow them far, far away. And nobody will even remember that there was a time when they existed, a time when they walked on this earth.
